Design Experiencesm
*Class Time: 7 sessions - 3 hours each
*Class size is limited to 7 students.
*Cost: $231 plus supplies. A list of supplies will be given to you on the first day of class.

The goal for this class is to design a line of garments or accessories for sewing. You will start out by learning how to forecast fashion and source textiles and work your way through to creating a starter portfolio for fashion.

Here is a breakdown of this seven session class:

• Session 1 and 2: Research and Development - learn about color forecasting, textile sourcing and trend forecasting. Create a story board with textiles and colorways.
• Session 3 and 4: Fashion Drawing Class - learn how to draw croquis with an emphasis on communicating the theme of your collection
• Sessions 5 and 6: Technical Drawing Class - learn how to draw flats which are used to help you plan and communicate your design to the patternmaker and sample seamster.
• Sessions 7: Portfolio or Line Development - Pull it all together into a portfolio or a cohesive line for production.

  This is not a sewing class. It is a creative design class. It is good to have some basic sewing skills before taking this class, but you do not need to be a good seamster or patternmaker to take it.
