Art and fashion are totally in love right now and that means we get to break lots of rules and have tons of fun. Marc Jacobs, YSL, Andy Warhol, Vivienne Westwood, Vera Wang, Daniel Judd, D&G and Chloe will be some of our inspirations for this week long class. We’ll discuss fashion history, the current eco-fashion movement, recycling, and fashion as an art form.

Best of all, you’ll have a super time learning basic sewing skills as well as fashion art techniques like fabric painting, silk screening, cut-outs and collage to make a masterpiece of your very own. This class is appropriate for absolute beginners as well as intermediate seamsters and all students will have the opportunity to show their work in a fashion show at the end of the summer.

Class Instructor: Ms. Tina Sparkles!

Ms. Tina Sparkles has been a favorite teacher here at First Samples for over a year now. She has taught t-shirt reconstruction and accessories design to teenagers for a few summers through the Americorp program and as well as at the Art Pad last summer. She has also taught several workshops for various places like the Austin Museum of Art and the Rock & Roll Camp for Girls.
